Welcome to H.O.G.A.R., INC.

Mission: To provide every citizen with safe, decent and affordable housing
within a healthy environment.

• Sponsorship and development of affordable housing;
• First-time homebuyer counseling, education and assistance through our
  First Home Club;
• Working with owners of substandard properties to improve living conditions
  and insure decent housing in an area where over 70% of the housing stock
  is over 75 years old;
• Credit counseling, default, foreclosure and reverse mortgage counseling;
• Economic development activities that contribute to the revitalization of the
  community.

HOGAR was incorporated in 1993, with a mandate from the New York State
DHCR (Division of Housing and Community Renewal) to serve the North Rockland County, New York area. The organization’s reach has increased over the years, with HOGAR-directed affordable housing projects now in evidence throughout the Hudson Valley, comprising a mix of new construction, acquisition/rehab and moderate rehab. HOGAR assistance to first-time homebuyers began in 1994. Its First Home Club
is the organization’s most successful program. Now in its fifth year, the Club has graduated over 120 families from its 10 month program, which is co-sponsored by NYC Federal Home Loan Bank and HSBC. To date, 386 families have purchased their homes through HOGAR’s program.
